Atomos Partner Up With SIGMA to Bring Camera

Atomos Partner Up With SIGMA to Bring Camera to Cloud Workflow

Both cameras now have Camera to Cloud (C2C) capabilities when paired with an Atomos Shogun CONNECT or Atomos Ninja V/Ninja V+ monitor-recorder with a CONNECT module thanks to the most recent firmware updates for the SIGMA fp/fp L.

For its fp (version 5.00) and fp L cameras (version 3.00), SIGMA released two new firmware updates in February 2023. The support for Atomos Camera to Cloud was among the fp/fp L’s many new features and enhancements, and it was one of the most important ones. Watch our Cine Gear 2023 interview with Kazuto Yamaki, CEO of SIGMA, if you missed it to learn more about the business’ most recent releases, which include support for Camera to Cloud.

However, if you’re interested in learning more about the SIGMA fp/fp L and Camera to Cloud technical details, we spoke with Atomos to get an inside look at what production might look like in the future.

Let’s start with the equipment you need to take advantage of Camera to Cloud features: a SIGMA fp/fp L with the most recent firmware, a device from Atomos with CONNECT capabilities like the Ninja V or Ninja V+ with CONNECT module, an Atomos Shogun CONNECT, or the most recent ZATO CONNECT if you don’t require recording capabilities.

You can use a mini-HDMI to full-size HDMI cable to connect your SIGMA fp/fp L to your Atomos device once you have all the necessary components. You must then set up and configure your Atomos CONNECT device so that it can connect to your Atomos CLOUD or account and upload your proxy files in real-time.

The Atomos CLOUD storage, which is free but only supports 720p proxies, is mentioned by Atomos. If you want to upload 1080p proxy files, Atomos CLOUD will cost you $5 per month.

Your Atomos CONNECT device must be connected to the Internet in order to upload proxy files to the cloud. Your monitor or monitor recorder can be connected to the internet in one of three ways: using WiFi, an Ethernet cable, or a portable WiFi router like a Sclera Digital or Teradek Link AX.

When everything is set up, you have a camera rig that can record to three different locations: the SIGMA fp/fp L internally, the Ninja V/V+ or Shogun Connect externally, and your Atomos CLOUD or account.

The Atomos Camera to Cloud solution has the advantage that your video is uploaded to the cloud almost instantly. When you stop recording a long take, 80% of it has already been synced to the web.

For your information, Graham Sheldon represents SIGMA.

You can now buy every item you need to use the Camera to Cloud features.

If you buy a SIGMA fp/fp L along with an Atomos Ninja V, Ninja V+, and/or Atomos CONNECT module, there are currently a lot of bundles with significant savings.
