iPhone 15 and 15 Plus Could See Delay over Upgraded 48MP Camera

iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max received a significant camera upgrade with a 48MP main sensor, and analyst Jeff Pu predicted that this would trickle down to the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus earlier this year. The more affordable iPhone 15 models may experience a delay due to a camera component problem, even though Apple is thought to still be planning on that upgrade.

The May analyst newsletter for Haitong International Securities, which was published this morning by Jeff Pu, includes his most recent predictions for the iPhone 15 lineup.

Seen by 9to5Mac, the report reiterates some predictions we’ve heard from The 48MP camera is coming to the less expensive iPhone 15 models, as well as titanium for the 15 Pro models, a periscope telephoto lens for the 15 Pro Max, reversal on solid-state buttons, and other features.

However, Pu claims that there may be some difficulties in Apple obtaining the camera components required to deliver the smartphones on schedule for the 15 and 15 Plus.

Specifically, the stacked CIS (CMOS Image Sensor) for the 48MP camera on the 15 and 15 Plus is where Pu says he’ll “continue to monitor the risks of producion [sic] schedule.”

Pu still believes that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be introduced in September along with the 15 Pro and Pro Max, though he won’t be certain until he receives more concrete information.

The A16 chip, which debuted with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, is used in the 15 and 15 Plus models, while the A17 is reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro models, as stated in Pu’s newsletter.

Last but not least, Pu anticipates that the iPhone 15 smartphones will maintain their current storage capacities of 128, 256, and 512GB, with only the Pro models offering the highest 1TB option.
