Camera's Manual Mode

A Beginner’s Guide to Using Your Camera’s Manual Mode

One of the best things you can do as a beginner photographer is to switch off your camera’s automatic settings and start getting familiar with its manual controls. Although it may seem intimidating at first, once you get the hang of it, you’ll be glad you did.

This excellent video tutorial from Photo Genius will teach you how to operate your camera’s manual mode. Given how sophisticated today’s cameras are, you might be perplexed as to why we would ever switch the camera off of auto mode and make our own settings. This is because of two factors.

irst, it is true that modern cameras are remarkably advanced pieces of technology, but they are not infallible, and understanding which situations might cause it to fail can help you ensure you always get the shot. Additionally, a camera can only make an accurate exposure. Since it cannot read your creative thoughts, it may not make the best decision (among many that are available) that will result in a photograph that is both properly exposed and consistent with your creative intent.

You’ll become a better photographer and have more self-confidence if you become accustomed to working manually. For a complete overview, view the video up top.
