LONG ISLAND – A hidden camera was found inside a bathroom at Bay Shore High School, prompting police in Suffolk County to launch an investigation.
Students at the school expressed their disgust at the finding.
“Normally you see things at other schools and you never think it’ll happen at yours,” said one student.
“I think it’s concerning that such things can be found in the bathroom,” said another.
The camera, which was allegedly found inside a single-use restroom, was reportedly discovered on Thursday afternoon, according to school officials.
Parents who spoke to FOX 5 NY expressed their worry and demand for explanations.
“You send your kids to school and they’re not safe,” said one mother who didn’t want to be identified. “The worst is what comes to mind first. To ensure that this never occurs again, it needs to be taken up a notch.”
The Bay Shore superintendent claims in a statement that the district takes concerns like these seriously and that student and staff safety and security are a top priority. Criminal charges may be brought against anyone who is discovered to be involved. Calling Crime Stoppers in Suffolk County at 800-220-TIPS is encouraged for anyone with information.
