Honor 90 Comes to Europe With a 200-megapixel Camera and Midrange Price

The former Huawei subbrand Honor is releasing its Honor 90 internationally less than a month after its introduction in China. This smartphone is notable for having a 200-megapixel main camera, the same resolution as what you’ll find in the flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, even though it is primarily a midrange smartphone with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1-based processor and prices starting at €549 (£449.99, roughly $573).

Of course, better camera performance doesn’t always equate to more megapixels. However, it offers the potential for taking photos that are more detailed in the appropriate circumstances. In order to produce 12-megapixel images, the Honor 90’s camera software can also group up to 16 pixels together to create pixels that are actually 2.24 m in size. The key question is how Honor’s camera software will decide to handle the captured images; in my experience, the company’s most recent smartphones have a tendency to produce images that can appear overly colorful and bright.

The three other cameras on the Honor 90 are less impressive. On the back are a 12-megapixel ultrawide and macro camera, a 2-megapixel depth camera, and a 50-megapixel front-facing selfie camera hidden inside its hole-punch notch. It features a 6.7-inch display with a resolution of 2664 x 1200, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a maximum brightness of 1600 nits. Although the exact availability varies by retailer and market, it comes in green, blue, black, or silver as options.

The phone has a 5,000mAh battery inside, and Honor claims that it can be charged to 45 percent of its capacity in 15 minutes using 66W of fast charging. Wireless charging isn’t supported. Its processor is a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 “Accelerated Edition,” and depending on what market you’re in, it comes with a choice of 8 or 12GB of 256 or 512GB of storage and RAM.
