IFPD Release Officer-involved Shooting Body Camera Footage

A press conference will be held by the Idaho Falls Police Department on Thursday to release body camera footage from its most recent officer-involved shooting, which happened in November. 27, 2022 at the The press conference will start at 2:00 p.m. at Eagles Lodge. 

As a result of the officer-involved shooting at the Eagles Lodge in November, Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney Randy Neal determined that the officer’s actions were legal because they were a self-defense. Neal also said criminal prosecution has been declined.

In order to check on the welfare of 63-year-old Kevin Boyd Chambers of Idaho Falls, Idaho Falls Police Officer Dustin Cook was dispatched to the Eagles Lodge on Hemmert Avenue on November 27. During this encounter, Chambers exhibited a knife in a threatening manner, and Officer Cook discharged his service firearm,
injuring Chambers.

The East Idaho Critical Incident Response Team looked into the facts surrounding this meeting and then gave Neal the information they had found so he could make a choice.
