Using open-source hardware and software, the DIY-Thermocam V3 provides private individuals, educational institutions, and businesses with access to a lightweight, reasonably priced, and adaptable thermal imaging platform. It is made as a self-assembly product that can be assembled at home with just a few common tools.

It can be used for a number of things, including identifying heat leaks in building insulation, analyzing electrical or mechanical parts, spotting people or animals, and even mounting it on a drone to capture time-lapse or continuous images.

The device has a sizable software ecosystem surrounding it that enables the extension of the device’s functionalities beyond the firmware itself. On your PC, you can edit raw data files using the Thermal Analysis Software and save them in different file types. The Thermal Live Viewer can also stream live thermal images to your PC, alter settings instantly, and record photos or videos.

While the Video Converter allows you to turn a collection of captured images into movie files, the Thermal Data Viewer offers another method of editing raw files.
