iPhone 15 Pro: Here Are the Camera Upgrades Rumored for This Year

Apple will hold a special event tomorrow to reveal its new phones, which will include the iPhone 15 lineup. All of the new models will reportedly receive camera upgrades, but the Pro Max model will reportedly receive more significant camera improvements.

Continue reading to learn more about what to anticipate from the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max cameras.

Same 48-megapixel Sensor as the iPhone 14 Pro

The first iPhones with a 48-megapixel wide lens were the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max from a year ago. This lens allowed for the capture of RAW photos at the full resolution of the sensor as well as 12-megapixel photos with improved detail thanks to pixel binning technology.

According to MacRumors, both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will retain the 48-megapixel Sony sensor from the iPhone 14 Pro. Accordingly, users who upgrade from phones from a year ago might not notice any noticeable improvements when using the phone’s primary camera.

Of course, Apple might enhance the post-processing of the images using the new A17 chip, giving them a marginally better appearance. For instance, the iPhone 14 continues to use Smart HDR 4, which debuted with the iPhone 13.

Periscope Lens on the iPhone 15 Pro

Both the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max need new zoom lenses. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a new periscope lens for up to 6x optical zoom, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro will still have a 12-megapixel telephoto lens for 3x optical zoom.

Prism technology is used in periscope lenses to reflect light to the sensor at a 90-degree angle because optical zoom requires much longer lenses. Periscope lenses, however, take up significantly more internal space on the phone, which is probably why they are only compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The updated 12-megapixel telephoto lens should produce better photos in low light for the standard Pro model.

If Apple updates the ultra-wide lens on the new iPhones, it’s unclear what changes will be made at this time.

Better Camera on iPhone 15 and 15 Plus

Analysts predict that Apple will finally include a 48-megapixel wide sensor in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which is an interesting prediction. Apple will do this so that the less expensive models this year will have access to all the advantages of the main camera found in the iPhone 14 Pro.

Tuesday, September 12, at 10 a.m., is the time for Apple’s special event. PT. 9to5Mac will be at To bring you all the information on Apple’s announcements, Apple Park in Cupertino.
